The National 24 Hour Challenge board of directors met last night and voted unanimously to cancel the event for 2020. We explored all options, but found we were unable to hold the 2020 National 24 Hour Challenge in a manner that adheres to the highest safety standards without significantly compromising the experience for our riders, crews, and volunteers.

We postponed the event from June 20-21 to August 22-23 to allow us time to examine how we could modify the event to meet the COVID-19 advisories and restrictions from local, state, and federal health officials. We were optimistic that delaying the event until August would result in more favorable conditions for holding the event, however the uncertainty and unpredictability of COVID-19 presented too many obstacles. We want to thank all of our partners and local officials for their assistance in helping us attempt to overcome the challenges of holding the event this year.

We are looking forward to holding the 2021 National 24 Hour Challenge in Middleville, Michigan once again on Father’s Day weekend June 19-20, 2021. We will be offering everything we planned this year in 2021 including: non-stop RFID scanning checkpoints, two loops (A Day Loop and a Night Loop), a teams category, the commemorative package that lets you choose your number, and the new ElliptiGo class!

Should you have any questions or comments please do not hesitate to contact us at or call (616) 953-0234. A sincere thank you for your patience and understanding as we attempted to overcome the challenges and obstacles for holding the event this year.

Please put June 19-20, 2021 on your calendar for the 2021 National 24-Hour Challenge. As always, registration for the 2021 National 24 Hour Challenge will open at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time on January 1, 2021.

The board has voted to provide a full refund to all riders who had registered for this year’s event.

However, we would ask that you consider rolling-over your registration to 2021. The roll-over option means you would get everything you paid for this year in 2021. If you purchased the commemorative package and you roll-over your registration to 2021, you will get to keep the rider number you select and receive the commemorative hat.

The reason we are asking you to roll-over your registration to 2021 is that charges us a fee for every rider who registers. You do not see that fee as it is deducted from what you pay by When we refund your registration fee we do not get the fee back – which means we will be losing about $1,300 from the fees that were deducted if we refund everyone’s entry fee. As you are probably aware, the National 24 Hour Challenge is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization which means recovering this loss will result in higher entry fees for 2021.

If you are unable to roll-over your registration to 2021, we completely understand and will refund your entry fee. You do not need to take any action and we will process your refund in the next two weeks.

If you are able to roll-over your registration, please email us at and let us know by June 26, 2020. If you roll-over your registration, you do not need to take any action on January 1, 2021 as your registration will automatically be transferred.

Thank you!

If we had been able to hold the National 24 Hour Challenge this year, we would now have hundreds of pictures from the event which we would share with you on Facebook and Instagram over the next year.

However, since we don’t have any pictures from this year, we would love to share your pictures from previous years of the National 24 Hour Challenge. If you have a picture or two we can share with everyone on Facebook and Instagram, please send it to and be sure to follow us on Instagram and Facebook.
